Hi! I’m Amanda and creator of The Full Deets, the place to get the details (aka..The Deets!) on all things travel.
About The Full Deets
This blog was created to hopefully inspire and inform you so you can find the best destinations, places to stay, things to do, and of course, great places to eat (or places to avoid)! Isn’t the point of most travel? To make the most of your limited time and money, and get a memorable experience from your vacation?!
This blog was started because there aren’t any other websites that focus on affordable, luxury travel and give an in-depth look at the details. I wanted to know about how comfortable the bed is, is there a great restaurant near by, how long should I stay in a city.
While we’d all love to stay in the $1000 a night luxury hotels listed in Travel & Leisure magazine, most of us have to stay within a reasonable budget (unless it’s a special event like our wedding in Cabo San Lucas Mexico). I believe there are things you can do to make the experience memorable no matter your budget.
Some of my favorite places are Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Portland and Cannon Beach, Oregon; just about anywhere in Spain, Miami Beach, and Savannah, Georgia.
Born to Travel
I’ve loved traveling since I was little. Growing up in Kansas, my parents would take me and my older brother on a yearly vacation starting when I was five. Lots of road trips in the US and our first trip out of the country was to the Bahama’s in 1988. I still remember my black teddy bear swim suit. Check me out! 😊
We would regularly take a day trip to see Kansas landmarks (Big Brutus here we come!), weekend trips to Chicago to do some marathon shopping (yes, I had the coolest mom ever!), and as we got older, visit various cities in Mexico to relax on the beach, soak up the rays, and eat amazing food.
The wanderlust continues today. Recently married, my husband (How long does it take to get used to using that term?!?!), Kevin and I, travel as much as we can. We have day jobs so we make the most of what time we have. We love doing long weekends and plan for longer vacations once we’ve banked enough vacation hours. While I haven’t visited all the states in the US (21 and counting) or traveled to an impressive amount of countries (seven), it’s a massive part of my life and a huge goal to see all of the amazing places on this beautiful planet.
I’ve turned into a huge spa junkie since moving to Phoenix five years ago. It’s hard not to when you live in a place that has the highest number of resort spas per capita in the U.S! Phoenix spas are some of the most beautiful in the world and have amazing deals during the summer. And remember that day job ?! It’s where I go to collect my sanity! I’ve nearly visited all of the top resort spa’s in Phoenix and only have a few left before I have all my reviews are complete. 😉 As part of our travels now, I always research the destination spas and include them in our activities if possible.
Planning is half the fun
I’ve planned every trip for the last 15 years, including mother/daughter trips, an epic 30th birthday trip to Las Vegas, shopping trips, road trips, and Kevin and I’s ‘mini-moon’ (the real honeymoon is in the works). Once I pick a destination, I dive into all the details when it comes to comparing hotels, things to do, places to eat, and all the options to make it a great trip.
I’ve always been super detailed and notice the small things. Are the hotel towels extra fluffy? Check! The best restaurant on Yelp falling a little short of its five-star review? Noted! Is there something unique to do or event like burning the fields in the middle of Kansas? Yes!
I love creating a review of my experience to help others know what they can expect and help make their experience better. I have been a long-time contributor on Yelp and TripAdvisor and love creating a unique perspective for the selective traveler. I believe everyone should get more out of their travel experiences and hopefully I help you do that!
Hopefully, The Full Deets helps you create experiences and unforgettable memories.
