My mom and I decided that we needed a girls trip and started checking late spring for best places to visit in the US. We looked at several different cities (Charleston, Palm Springs, San Diego, Skagit Valley Washington) but ultimately decided that Savannah was the best option since it’d been on both our bucket lists for years. We also considered these items that put it over the top:
- Plenty of unique things to do (Shopping, tours, history)
- Southern, small town charm
- Walkable city; no need for a rental car to explore (unless you opted for a day trip)
- Great selection of southern food
- Unique hotels
- Peach sangria!!
We met on Friday in Charlotte and flew together on the quick 50-minute flight into Savannah. There was Uber available at the airport for a quick and easy pick-up. They have an area just south of the terminal where cars can pick up riders. My guess is, this location could change frequently, as it does with most airports, so check around and look for signs. It should be easy to spot. After a 30 minute drive from the airport, we finally ARRIVED!
Trip Length: I recommend 3-4 Days – We stayed Friday through Tuesday but really could have seen everything and left on Monday. We ended up renting a car for one day and doing a day trip to Tybee Island…but another cool option could be Hilton Head.
